Christian Living/GMRC in Grade 5 explores the Sacraments as privileged encounters with Christ and visible signs of God’s grace. Grounded in Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and Church teachings, the subject helps learners understand how Jesus continues His saving mission through the Sacraments of Initiation, Healing, and Service.

Through Scripture reflection, prayer experiences, discussions, sacramental themes, and faith-centered activities, learners examine the meaning and significance of the Sacraments in Christian life. They explore Eucharistic spirituality, the importance of mercy and compassion, and the Christian vocation expressed through Matrimony and Holy Orders.

As learners deepen their faith, they develop a stronger sense of discipleship, service, and responsibility. The subject encourages them to live Christ’s threefold mission as priest, prophet, and king through meaningful participation in family life, school, Church, and community, guided by the Lasallian values of faith, service, and communion.

Mathematics

Araling Panlipunan

Ang Araling Panlipunan sa Baitang 5 ay nakatuon sa pag-aaral ng kasaysayan ng Pilipinas mula sa pagkakabuo ng kapuluan at mga sinaunang lipunan hanggang sa pagsisimula ng ika-19 na siglo. Tinutulungan nito ang mga mag-aaral na maunawaan ang mahahalagang pangyayaring humubog sa bansa gamit ang mga konseptong pangkasaysayan tulad ng pagbabago, pagpapatuloy, at kahalagahang pangkasaysayan.

Sa pamamagitan ng pagsusuri ng mga sanggunian, talakayan, pagsasaliksik, at iba’t ibang gawaing pangkasaysayan, natututuhan ng mga mag-aaral ang tungkol sa mga sinaunang pamayanan, pananakop ng mga Espanyol, at mga pagbabagong dulot nito sa pamumuhay ng mga Pilipino. Sinusuri rin nila ang mga pangyayaring nagbigay-daan sa pag-usbong ng nasyonalismong Pilipino.

Sa pagtatapos ng kurso, nahuhubog ang mga mag-aaral na may malalim na pagpapahalaga sa kasaysayan, kultura, at pagkakakilanlang Pilipino. Nalilinang din ang kanilang pagiging mapanuri, makabayan, at may kamalayang panlipunan bilang mga mamamayang handang makibahagi sa pag-unlad ng bansa.

Science

Science in Grade 5 develops learners’ understanding of matter, living things, forces, Earth processes, and the solar system through inquiry-based learning and scientific investigation. The subject encourages learners to explore natural phenomena and understand how scientific knowledge helps explain the world around them.

Through experiments, observations, fair testing, data gathering, and evidence-based investigations, learners examine the properties and changes of matter, body systems, life cycles, ecosystems, forces such as gravity and friction, electricity, the water cycle, weather events, and the movements of objects within the solar system. Ang asignaturang Filipino sa Baitang 5 ay nakatuon sa paglalapat ng mas mataas na kasanayang panliterasi sa pag-unawa, pagsusuri, at pagbuo ng iba’t ibang uri ng teksto. Layunin nitong palalimin ang kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral na gamitin ang wikang Filipino bilang kasangkapan sa pagkatuto, komunikasyon, at makabuluhang pakikilahok sa lipunan.

Sa pamamagitan ng pagbasa, pagsusuri, talakayan, pagsulat, at paggamit ng mga elementong biswal at multimedia, napauunlad ng mga mag-aaral ang kanilang bokabularyo, kakayahang makipagtalastasan, at kasanayan sa pagpapahayag ng kaalaman, ideya, at damdamin sa iba’t ibang konteksto. Iniuugnay nila ang kanilang mga natutuhan sa mga usaping lokal, rehiyonal, at pambansa.
