Last September 29, La Salle Green Hills warmly welcomed a 17-member delegation from the St Pius X College – Chatswood as part of their inaugural Philippine immersion from September 27 to October 11, 2025. St. Pius X College is a Catholic Boy’s school founded in the Edmund Rice tradition which aims to foster an authentic sense of faith and co-curricular and academic success within their students.
The visit fostered a cultural exchange between the delegates from the Australian Catholic boys’ school and our International Baccalaureate (IB) students.
Several activities were lined up to welcome the delegation of Grade 10 and 11 students from St. Pius X College and their adult companions, Mr. Sam Di Sano (Leader of Learning – Religious Education); Mr. Ryan Balboa (Social Justice Coordinator); and Mr. Daniel Petrie (Assistant Principal – Mission and Identity).
Following the inspirational message from Assistant Principal for Student Affairs, Ms. Suzette Dahilan, and a brief interaction with IB Cohorts 1 and 2 students, the delegates were treated to a Filipino-style breakfast at the Retreat House. A fun and engaging activity showcasing Filipino culture ensued, where they joined in the Tinikling dance. The rest of the morning visit continued with an immersion tour of the LSGH campus, giving the St Pius X students a firsthand look at campus life. A highlight of the day was a Filipino cuisine cook-off, where students from both schools collaborated in the kitchen.
The exchange concluded with a reflective activity and the presentation of a signed jersey from the St. Pius X delegation. LSGH Vice President for the Lasallian Mission, Ms. Josie Burgos, delivered the closing remarks, followed by a speech from St. Pius X Assistant Principal, Mr. Daniel Petrie.
