In the world of Philippine swimming, Jamesray Mishael Soriano Ajido is making waves. At just 16 years old, this La Salle Green Hills student has shattered multiple records, earned international medals, and even broken an Asian meet record, becoming the first Filipino to do so. His story is one of talent, discipline, and the transformative power of an educational environment that champions excellence.

The Starting Line for Success

Jamesray’s journey began as a simple effort to learn survival swimming. “I didn’t really like swimming at first,” he admits. But with the unwavering support of his parents and the values instilled at La Salle Green Hills, his natural ability evolved into world-class performance.

Today, Jamesray balances rigorous training with academic achievement as a Grade 10 student. His day begins at 5:00 AM and is filled with schoolwork, practice, and study, a routine that demands discipline and resilience. “It’s exhausting, but I love it,” he shares with a smile.

Breaking Records, Building Character

Jamesray’s achievements speak volumes. At the Asian Age Group Swimming Championship in February 2024, he ruled the 12–14 age group with a gold in the 100m Butterfly, setting both an Asian meet record and a Philippine Junior National Record. He also claimed silver in the 50m Butterfly and bronze in the 50m Freestyle — both new national records.

He now holds seven Philippine National Junior Records, including breaking a 20-year-old mark in the 200 IM and a 15-year-old record in the 400 IM. His international wins include multiple medals at the Southeast Asia Age Group Championships and eight golds at the Philippine National Age Group Swimming Championship, where he was named Most Outstanding Swimmer.

His proudest feat? Breaking an Asian meet record against swimmers from 32 countries, a moment that cemented his place among the region’s best. Most recently, he added a silver in the Boys’ 100m Butterfly at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain (October 2025), proving he’s one of the Philippines’ brightest young athletes.

Dreaming Big, Staying Grounded

As he looks ahead, Jamesray keeps his goals clear and determined: “I want to compete in the 2028 LA Summer Olympics. It’s a big dream, but I’m working hard toward it,” he says. Beyond swimming, he envisions a future in IT, merging his passion for technology with his love for sports.

Despite his rising success, Jamesray remains humble and faith-driven. He volunteers in church outreach programs, donates gear to aspiring swimmers, and reminds young athletes: “Trust the Lord, obey your parents, listen to your coach, and never neglect your studies.”

The La Salle Green Hills Advantage

Jamesray’s achievements reflect the supportive environment of La Salle Green Hills, where academic excellence and athletic development go hand in hand. “La Salle is a very good school. They support me in my competitions and help me balance my studies and swimming,” he shares. With teachers, coaches, and classmates behind him, Jamesray continues to thrive both in the classroom and in the pool.
