Meet La Salle Green Hills

LSGH Trivia

178: This is the total number of boys enrolled in Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 during the first school year of LSGH.  Today, our total enrollment for Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 is over 600.

During the early years of LSGH, Ortigas Avenue and the surrounding areas of Green Hills was a deserted and uninhabited area with grasslands and rolling hills. It’s only neighbors were military camps.

The name RANGERS found in the school emblem was inspired by the Philippine Scout Rangers. The school symbol at that time featured a Ranger hat, a lasso and a hill in the background. This was used as part of the uniform until 1968. The school publication was also named Ranger. Today, the official yearbook of the Grade School is called Rangers.

The De La Salle brothers originally purchased five (5) hectares of land from Don Francisco Ortigas, Jr. and Rafael Ortigas Sr., both of whom were De La Salle College Alumni.

The Brothers received an additional hectare as a donation from the Ortigas family out of gratitude for the Brothers’ plan to put up a school on their property.

The first LSGH High School graduation was held on April 25, 1968 in LSGH Football Field (br. Gilbert Cotter FSC Field). The graduates of 1968 are called “PRIMUS” meaning first. The commencement address was given by the late Sen. Benigno S. Aquino, Sr.

School Year 1968-1969 was the first year classes were held at Benilde Gym. LSGH Batch ’69 (SEGUNDUS) was the first batch to hold their graduation exercises at the said facility. All graduation ceremonies have been held there ever since.
