The Office of Culture, Arts and Publications Office (OCAP) has paved the way for two LSGH junior high school students to take their songwriting talents to greater heights by spearheading the Student Songwriting Competition, an event that hopes to ignite the spirit of Christmas amid the pandemic.
Gabriel L. Legaspi, a grade 9 student, won with Christmas Lives On, joining 10th grader Kal Rouidgi J. Jacobe who bagged a double win with Decay and Take Off Your Mask. The competition was opened to all official students of La Salle Green Hills in two categories: Individual and Group (collaboration). The panel of judges was composed of Mr. Alvin T. Castro (CL Coordinator); Mr. Mario Miguel B. Ordoñez (Practical Arts/Arts & Technology Coordinator); Mr. Jamby Santos (Culture, Arts and Publications Coordinator); and, Mr. Dexter Alvarez (OCAP staff).
The contest revolved around the theme of celebrating the Lasallian Christmas spirit amid the pandemic. Gabriel’s winning entry will be featured in the Students’ Christmas Fellowship, Institutional Advent celebration on December 18 while Kal’s on separate occasions in February and March 2021.
