Two LSGH Pupils Receive DOST-SEI Youth Excellence in Science (YES) Bronze Award
The Youth Excellence in Science (YES) Award of the Science Education Institute (SEI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) were given to Masters Theodore D. Abara of Grade 4A and Uriel Nathan D. Orpilla of Grade 6A in recognition of their achievements in international mathematics competition held separately in Singapore this school year (SY 2015 – 2016). Both pupils received bronze medals during an awarding ceremony held last February 4, 2016 at the PHILVOCS Auditorium in Diliman, Quezon City.
The Youth Excellence in Science (YES) Award is conferred to international achievers in science and mathematics competition at the elementary, secondary and collegiate levels. It is given by DOST-SEI in pursuance of its thrust to develop science culture among the citizenry. Furthermore, this is given to motivate the youth to strive for excellence in the fields of science and mathematics.
Master Theodore D. Abara won a bronze award in the Primary Division of the Singapore Mathematics Olympiad Challenge held at St. Joseph Institute in Singapore last August 16 – 17, 2015, while Master Master Uriel Nathan D. Orpilla won the bronze award when he competed in the 11th International Mathematics Contest 2015 in Singapore last August 1, 2015.
