Lasallians Take Part in ANIMOsaic and Mangrove Planting

The remembrance of St. John Baptist De La Salle’s entry to eternal life is made more significant as Lasallians gather together to live out the Tercentenary theme “One Heart, One Commitment, One Life”.

La Salle Green Hills joins the worldwide Lasallian Family in the celebration of the 300th Death Anniversary of St. John Baptist de La Salle (SJBDLS). The Institute of the Christian Brothers also designated 2019 as the Year of Lasallian Vocations. These momentous milestones appertain to the Lasallian Jubilee Year which officially started November 17, 2018 and will end December 31, 2019. The LSGH Tercentenary Committee headed by Miss Josie Burgos organized and coordinated activities to commemorate the occasion.

ANIMOsaic: The Humans of St. La Salle. Representatives from the different sectors of the LSGH community gathered together to form an image of the face of the Founder. Held at the Upper Football Field last April 4, the human formation is a symbolic reminder that the noble work of St. La Salle resonates with the same amount of zeal among people even centuries after his death in 1719.

Br. Victor Franco FSC expressed his gratitude to the community, from the students, the employees and to other school partners who he claimed as “the human images of our Founder.”

Lasallian Jubilee Year Mass. Through the invitation of De La Salle University-Manila and De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, Mr. Alex Borbon, LSGH Grade School Adult Ministry Coordinator, led the school’s delegation in the solemn Eucharistic celebration on the occasion of the Lasallian Jubilee Year. The mass was held at the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral last April 10 with His Eminence Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle officiating.

In his thanksgiving message Br. Edmundo Fernandez FSC said that the Jubilee Year encourages all Lasallian educators to be more active in the promotion of teaching minds, touching hearts and transforming lives and to lead the young to see the importance of truth, of justice and the value of life.

Mangrove Planting. As stewards of God’s creation, Lasallian volunteers make a symbolical giving of life to celebrate the birthdate of the Founder on April 30. Almost a thousand mangrove seedlings through the monetary donations of LSGH community and partners were planted. The mangrove planting was spearheaded by Social Action Coordinator and Lasallian Institute for the Environment (LIFE) partner Mr. Noel Marin. According to Mr. Marin, LIFE hopes to reach their 3,000 marker this year to coincide with the 300th anniversary of SJBDLS.
