LSGH Grade School Pupil Wins In Two International Math Competitions

Master Theodore D Abara, Grade 4 pupil at La Salle Green Hills, wins in two international math competitions in a row!

Theodore just recently won the Gold Medal award in the Primary Division of the recently concluded Singapore and Asian Math Olympiad (SASMO) held in Manila last April 2015, and with the awarding ceremony held in Singapore last August 17, 2015. He bested participants from Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

As a winner in the SASMO, Theodore was automatically invited to join another math competition, this time at the Singapore Mathematics Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) held in a Lasallian school in Singapore last August 16-17, 2015. This time, Theodore won the Bronze Medal award in the Primary Division where he competed with 338 participants from 15 countries from Asia and Europe.

Theodore started to shine even when he was still in Grade 2 when he led his group to compete in the regional level of the MTAP Metrobank-NCR Regional Contest. He eventually won third place in the Division level of the MTAP-Metrobank-DepEd-NCR Contest when he was a Grade 3 student. His mentors include Mrs Lyndell H Negado and Ms Nancy T Castro of the Grade School Department.
