Grade School Orchestra Goes on Roadshow

At the age of 51, Br. Andelino Manuel FSC (Manuel Castillo) came to the Philippines and began a new and exciting career which spanned 21 years.

He had to assume the acting directorship and presidency of De La Salle for three months when Br. Anthanasius suddenly died on 27 May 1950 at the start of the new school year.

Though president in an acting capacity, Br. Manuel took admirable initiatives including the establishment of a short-lived music department under the direction of Estela Goldenberg-Brimo, a De La Salle parent, nationally known pianist and artist. Musical events were held with the school musicians. For the first time at De La Salle, tutorial lesson in music after regular classes were taught.

In continuing the legacy of Br. Andelino Manuel, La Salle Green Hills Grade School Department has established its very own orchestra, the BR. ANDELINO MANUEL FSC ORCHESTRA.

Under the baton of Maestro Josefino Toledo, the Br. Andelino Manuel FSC Orchestra came into fruition through a committee spearheaded by the Grade School Principal, Mr. Jose Ramelle E. Javier in 2014, through the guidance of LSGH President, Br. Victor A. Franco FSC.

The Br. Andelino Manuel FSC Orchestra had its first recital on March 25, 2016 at the Br. Donato Center for the Performing Arts. The recital featured solo performances that capped off with musical renditions for the entire orchestra. To date, the orchestra has had exposures performing in various school activities such as the LSPA Christmas Fair, Learning Community Assemblies, etc.
