The Br. Andelino Manuel FSC Orchestra Roadshow: Making Magic through Music

La Salle Green Hills’ musical pride, the Br Andelino Manuel FSC Orchestra, is generating smiles and winning friends while making music together. As part of the annual Lasallian Mission Week Celebration, the orchestra displayed their musical talent by touring different La Salle schools in Luzon. With the musical skills they showed on-stage, they made music that was delightfully magical. The instrumental ensemble consists of string (violin, viola, cello and double bass), brass, woodwind, and percussion.

For their kick-off presentation, the Orchestra gave their LSGH audience and supporters a wonderful performance at the LSGH Br. Donato Center for Performing Arts last July 12th.

The roadshow started on July 14th with its first stopover at De La Salle Araneta University in Malabon City, followed by a second presentation on the same day at La Salle College of Antipolo in Antipolo City.

On July 19th, the second day of the roadshow, the Orchestra played at De La Salle Santiago Zobel School in Alabang, then at De La Salle University Integrated School, Science and Technology Complex in Biñan, Laguna.

The audience, mostly pupils from Grades 4, 5, and 6, appreciated the array of music played to them: from Beethoven’s grand Ode to Joy to the contemporary sound of Disney’s Do You Want to Build a Snowman and John Williams’ theme from his epic Star Wars movie. The young audiences were delighted with the upbeat rhythm of Bruno Mars’ Just the Way You Are. The Orchestra touched some nostalgic nerves when they performed the eternal classic Philippine folk song, Pamulinawen, where the audience sang as the orchestra gracefully played along. The audience participation part was graced by a Grade 1 pupil, Master Alonso Muhlach. It was indeed an uplifting moment for all present as they experienced the magic of music in the capable hands of the young.
