ALS CELEBRATES FAMILY DAY
“Pampamilyang Paskong Pinoy ng LSGH ALS”
Coming together in thanksgiving and celebration is a fitting scenario to welcome the Yuletide season. Such is the atmosphere when the learners of the Alternative Learning System spent one Sunday with their family… not at their homes but in their second home at La Salle Green Hills.
Making the celebration twice the fun and more memorable is the presence of the Brothers Community led by LSGH President Br. Victor A. Franco FSC. The Scholastic Brothers, headed by Br. Alexander Diaz FSC, director of the Lasallian Formation Center, came in full force to be with their students. The ALS volunteer teachers also came to show support knowing that the students prepared well, from the physical decorations to rehearsals for their respective performances.
Coinciding with the Feast of Christ the King, the November 25 gathering started with a Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Louie Punzalan SVD. Br. Rafael Reyes FSC, Lasallian Mission Office head, acknowledged the biological as well as the foster families of the learners for their attendance and support. This annual event is an affirmation that the school and the family are truly strong partners in the formation of the learners.
With the theme “Pampamilyang Paskong Pinoy ng LSGH ALS,” the Family Day highlighted the talents of the students in the performing arts. The Scholastic Brothers facilitated group games that brought about laughter, teamwork and camaraderie among the Elementary and Secondary learners. The raffle draw was another hit in the program. Cleverly dubbed “Pumasok Para Panalo,” the raffle draw is a pun: an invitation to be present physically to qualify for the draw and win exciting prizes and a gentle reminder for the ALS students to regularly come to school to learn and arm themselves to up their chances for the ultimate win in the game of life.
ALS faculty Mrs. Cathy Laguiton, Mrs. Weena Meily and Br. Ruben Caluyong FSC beamed with joy for the successful turnout of the event. Next stop: ALS Christmas Caroling to the different offices of the LSGH Community.
